1516 burnley chris long 00 630x420Burnley have today loaned out striker Chris Long to League One club Fleetwood Town for the duration of the 2016/17 season.

Long arrived from Everton last summer but his first team appearances were limited with the only start coming in the 2-2 draw at Cardiff back in November. He’s not featured recently in the pre-season and will now get the opportunity to get some first team football under his belt with the Cod Army.

Fleetwood boss Uwe Rösler said: ” “We are delighted to sign Chris, he turned down many other options to join us. He’s a player I’ve known for a long-time and I actually tried to sign when I was manager of Wigan.

“Our Technical Director has been working on the deal for a number of months and I am delighted we have finally been able to bring him to Fleetwood Town.

“Chris fits our profile, he’s a versatile player who can play right across the front three and we are excited by the signing. He has the quality and personality to fit into what we are trying to achieve here at Fleetwood Town.

“I’d like to thank Burnley Football Club and Sean Dyche for trusting us with one of his top talents.”

Chris could make his debut for Fleetwood tomorrow when they face Scunthorpe at Highbury.
