Agyei in the saddle at Walsall
Striker Dan Agyei, who made his Premier League debut for Burnley last season in the 2-1 defeat at Liverpool, has made a deadline day loan move and joined League One club Walsall until January.
It’s two years since he signed for the Clarets in a deal from AFC Wimbledon and this is his second loan having spent the first half of last season with Coventry City, also then in League One. He made 19 appearances for the Sky Blues and scored five times before returning to Burnley in January.
There was interest in him from other clubs in January but Burnley opted to keep him at Turf Moor and the late substitute appearance against Liverpool was followed by two more, at Everton and then in the home game against Manchester United.
But, with Burnley having more strikers available than was the case last season, we’ve taken the opportunity to loan him out to get him more first team games and he’ll join Walsall until January.
Walsall boss Jon Whitney said: “He’s somebody we’ve been tracking over the summer. He’s really highly thought of at Burnley and he made his Premier League debut against Liverpool at Anfield last season.
“He went out to Coventry last season and impressed there. He’s been highly sought after by several clubs but we have got the deal done. He’s a really good addition and he’ll strengthen the squad. He’s got raw pace and power and he’s got goals in him as well.
“We’re really pleased to get Daniel on board.”Share this page :
