All about Defour in Huddersfield draw
Sean Dyche said he was the best player on the pitch by miles and Up the Clarets have certainly supported that suggestion with Steven Defour winning both the man of the match vote and the player ratings by the same number of miles.
Within just a few minutes of the man of the match vote getting underway, it was clear that this was going to be nothing other than a one horse race. By the time it ended last night, Defour had claimed 84% of the vote.
That left little for the rest of the players but the next point scoring places all went to players with 3% of that vote. Scott Arfield was second just ahead of Ben Mee while Jack Cork and Stephen Ward jointly shared fourth place.
It was the same story with the player ratings. Defour won with a rating of 8.19 out of 10 and not only was he the only player to reach eight, no other player got as high as seven with goalkeeper Nick Pope, with a rating of 6.56, coming second. Third place went to Cork with 6.30 with a rating of 6.29 out of 10 giving James Tarkowski and Ward fourth place jointly.
That result has seen Defour claim the maximum ten points towards the Up the Clarets Player of the Year with three points for each of Arfield, Cork and Pope, two points for Mee and Ward and one point for Tarkowski.
With the game being the last in September, we can now confirm the player of the month has been won by Tarkowski. He picked up 18 points during the month, three more than second place Cork.
He also still leads the player of the year table, but now just one point ahead of Cork with Defour a further five points behind.
The next vote will be underway on Sunday after the Everton game while the Huddersfield result is below followed by the player of the month result and player of the year table.
