All change in Ireland for Supporters Club
Late last week we published information regarding the proposed Burnley Football Supporters’ Club trip to Ireland for our friendly against Cork City.
The main change to the itinerary is a change of base. The destination for the three night stay is now Limerick and the Limerick City Hotel on the banks of the River Shannon.
The coach will depart from Burnley on Wednesday 11th July. It will leave Lane Ends at Lowerhouse at 7:30 a.m. with a pick up at Turf Moor at 8 a.m. and there will be one refreshment stop on the way as it makes its way to Holyhead for the 1:50 p.m. sailing to Dublin with Stena Line.
On arrival in Dublin, the journey will then make the journey to Limerick and will be there in time for dinner ahead of the three night stay.
After breakfast on Thursday, it is proposed to enjoy the free day to explore the area with possible visits to Killarney and Tralee.
Killarney is one of Ireland’s most popular tourist resorts and is a starting point for those undertaking the Ring of Kerry scenic tour. It’s also home to over 30 traditional pubs and well know for the horse drawn jaunting cars which takes visitors around the nearby National Park to Muckross House and Ross Castle.
Tralee is the county town of Kerry and famous for its annual Rose of Tralee International Festival. Tralee too has some of the best pubs such as Sean Og’s, An Teach beag and Kirby’s Brogue Inn.
The coach will return to the hotel for dinner.
Friday is match day with a proposed visit to Kinsale or Cobh ahead of the game. Kinsale is a historic port and fishing town and is one of the most picturesque of the south west coast.
The coach will travel directly from Kinsale to Turner’s Cross for the 7 p.m. kick off against Cork City.
It’s time to journey home on Saturday but there will be free time in Limerick before the coach departs for the 3:10 p.m. ferry sailing back to Holyhead.
The prices have now been confirmed. The cost for the entire trip, which includes all coach travel and accommodation at the hotel with dinner on two nights, is £360 per person based on sharing a twin/double room. There is a single room supplement of £50 per person.
