Sheffield United have moved back up to second in the Professional Development League having beaten bottom club Bolton Wanderers to leave them just two points behind local rivals and league leaders Sheffield Wednesday.

1718 burnley oliver younger 00 500x500Having won their game on Monday, they went top for 24 hours before Wednesday brought the week’s fixtures to an end with a thumping win against Birmingham to restore their lead at the top of the northern group.

Just behind them are Nottingham Forest, who have lost second place having drawn against us last Friday, and Hull; they won again and have now picked up 13 points from their last five games, dropping points only against us in the recent 0-0 draw at North Ferriby.

Our point at Forest didn’t move us up the table; we remain 7th in the 11 team table, but it has taken our unbeaten run to three games to add to the draw at Hull and the win at Curzon Ashton against Leeds. We’ll be back at our Curzon Ashton home next Monday in the next round of fixtures, this time against Sheffield United.

In the south group, QPR have extended their lead at the top to four points but it could have been very different when they played Charlton and went 3-0 down in the first half. It was a different story after the break with QPR going on to win the game 5-4. Charlton slipped to next to bottom with that result, coupled with Watford’s win against Colchester.

We’ve a full fixture list again this week. Three of the games will be played tomorrow with the other seven scheduled for Monday.

The player photographed is defender Oliver Younger who, despite being eligible to play in the youth team, has been a regular in this season’s under-23 fixtures.

The League Tables are updated as results are confirmed and can be found with our Fixtures and Results within U23/U18 Stats on the top menu.
