Just three games have been played in the Professional Development League in the last week, all of them in the northern group, but those results have brought yet another change of leadership.

1718 burnley dwight mcneil 00 500x500Previous leaders Sheffield Wednesday were at home against second place Bolton. They held a three point lead at the top with a goal different two better than Bolton’s. But two more goals from Connor Hall, the league’s leading goalscorer, gave Bolton the points and they’ve now gone top on goals scored.

In the other two games played, Leeds beat Huddersfield while the game between Barnsley and Birmingham ended in a draw. The one remaining northern group game between Nottingham Forest was postponed yesterday and today’s scheduled south group game between Charlton and Crystal Palace was abandoned after just over half an hour with Palace in front.

Burnley, of course, have been in Premier League Cup action during this week. We were heavily beaten 4-0 at Stockport last Thursday against Newcastle but beat Swansea in the away game on Monday with goals from Dwight McNeil (pictured) and Ntumba Massanka who is back with the club after his loan at Wrexham came to an end.

We have two group games remaining in the Premier League Cup. We’ve still to play Swansea at home but before that we travel to Colchester in two weeks time, on Friday 9th February.

There is a full league fixture list this week with two games, both in the north group, on Friday and eight games on Monday. That includes our home game against Crewe. We are still bottom of the league but a win would take us level with Alex although it would require a four goal win to go above them on goal difference.

The League Tables and the Premier League Cup Group Tables are updated as results are confirmed. Both can be found along with our Fixtures and Result within U23/U18 Stats on the top menu.
