1617 burnley robbie brady 01 1000x500Sean Dyche has just held his first pre-match press conference of the season with the Clarets due to face Southampton in the Premier League in two days time.

Robbie Brady (pictured) and Steven Defour have both had their injury problems in the last season and a half, and those problems continue with neither of them in contention to play this weekend. Brady has a hairline crack to a rib, and I know from personal experience that it is very painful and awkward to deal with.

Defour though is, unfortunately, not close to a return. Dyche confirmed it was more long term and admitted it wasn’t going to be a matter of just weeks before the Belgian is fit. The good news is that the remainder of the squad are all fit and ready to go.

On the transfer window, he said maybe when asked about Nahki Wells going to QPR and Danny Drinkwater coming in, revealing that both deals, if they do go through, likely to be loans. He did admit that the Drinkwater deal had a reasonable chance but admitted it was still more than dotting i’s and crossing t’s.
