Yesterday, the club did confirm that both Robbie Brady and Jόhann Berg Guðmundsson scored in the game although gave no further information. Sources elsewhere confirm that Burnley won the game 5-3 and Up the Clarets understand it was a strong, experienced Burnley team with a couple of young players included.

There has been no information released about the Oldham side which might have included former Claret Chris Eagles. He’s made seven league appearances for Oldham this season, four of them starts. Whether Eagles played or not, there was definitely one ex-Claret in the Oldham side and that was midfielder Chris McCann.

McCann has been playing in America, most recently with DC United, but is apparently looking for a club back in England and would currently be able to sign as a free agent. Now 32, our former captain was in the team for the final game of the 2012/13 season, a 2-0 home win against Ipswich, before moving on to Wigan.

He signed for Atlanta United in the summer of 2016 and then had time at Coventry on loan prior to their first ever MLS season. McCann made 13 league appearances for the Sky Blues, the last of which came on New Year’s Eve 2016, a 1-1 draw at Peterborough.
