Burnley’s pre-season to start in Cork
The 2017/18 season is only just behind us but clubs are already planning for next season and our preparations will kick off in Ireland for a third time in six years with a game against Cork City.
Sean Dyche’s first pre-season saw us travel there. We’d been beaten at Morecambe in the first pre-season friendly but won this one 3-0 with goals from Danny Ings, trialist Scott Arfield and Sam Vokes. Keith Treacy thought he’d scored the third but it deflected off Vokes. It was the merest of touches with Treacy speaking of where it had touched Vokes: “It’s a very big arse.”
Only four of the players who took part that night are still with Burnley – Tom Heaton, Kevin Long, who was playing in his home town, Ben Mee and Vokes – in a Burnley team that included two trialists with David Jones featuring alongside Arfield.
This year we will kick off the pre-season there on Friday 13th July with a 7 p.m. kick off.Share this page :
