michael duff 300x400All three of our teams, the first team, the under-23s and the under-18s, will be in action over the next two days with the under-23s kicking things off this afternoon at Leeds, our first Professional Development League game since losing against Bolton at Curzon Ashton six and a half weeks ago.

That’s not strictly true; we did get just over half an hour in through the fog last month in a game against Hull that the referee abandoned as visibility got worse, but this will be our first full game since Bolton as we go looking for points to help move us up the table.

We go into the 2018 fixtures in next to bottom place with our opponents Leeds the only team below us. We have 13 points from 14 games; they have one point less from one game more.

It could be a very different looking line up for Michael Duff’s team this afternoon. Players such as Oliver Younger, Dwight McNeil and James Clarke, all of whom have been playing in this team recently, will be on duty for the youth team while fit again Khius Metz has now moved to Chorley, but there could be opportunities for returning loan players such as Aiden O’Neill, Dan Agyei, Alex Whitmore, Ntumba Massanka and Conor Mitchell to make appearances.

The game kicks off at 1 p.m. today at Leeds’ Thorp Arch training ground. It’s one of two games scheduled for today, the other is Nottingham Forest v Bolton, with the remainder of a full fixture list to be played on Monday.
