Cardiff get big win on first weekend
The U18 Professional Development League season got underway last Saturday with six games, one of them in the south group and the others between teams in each group, and it was Cardiff in that south group game who had the biggest victory, beating Colchester 5-0 at home.
While we got underway with a 1-0 home win against last season’s champions Charlton, courtesy of a Michael Fowler (pictured) goal, there were also wins for fellow north group teams Barnsley, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday who beat Watford, Ipswich and QPR respectively.
The only beaten team in our group were Hull who lost 2-1 at home against Coventry and that will be good news for Coventry who had to wait months to win their first point last season.
This Saturday sees the first full programme of the season and it is one when all the teams in the north group will travel south. Cardiff will be hoping to continue their good start with another victory while we will face a Colchester side looking to get a result following that ad 5-0 defeat.
