Charlton Athletic, recently relegated to League One, have turned down an offer from Burnley for goalkeeper Nick Pope according to the South London Press although they do expect a further offer to come in for him from the Clarets.

Although they’ve offered a ‘hands off’ warning, they are expected to have a tough fight to keep the goalkeeper who won his place last season after gaining most of his experience out on loan at Cambridge, Aldershot, York and Bury. He was in the Charlton side that lost 3-0 to the Clarets on the final day of last season.

Stephen Henderson was first choice for Charlton at the beginning of last season and played in the game at Burnley, but Pope has now claimed top spot an played 24 league games in 2015/16.
