Clarets all but out of Premier League Cup
Burnley’s hopes of progressing beyond the group stage of the Premier League Cup just about ended today when we suffered a 2-1 defeat against Cardiff City to fall to bottom place in our group.
Cardiff, previously without a win, beat us 2-1 and this after Tommy Wood (pictured) had given us an early lead when he fired home from close range in just the fifth minute.
It took the home side until twenty minutes into the second half to draw level from the penalty spot and they won it 14 minutes from time.
We’ve just the one game left now in the competition, at home against Sunderland which will be played on Monday 27th February at Turf Moor with a 1 p.m. kick off.
The Burnley team today was: Conor Mitchell, Taofiq Olomowewe, Trialist, Jimmy Dunne, Scott Wilson (Ali Koiki 73), Tristan Jumeau (Nashe Chakwana 68), Jamie Thomas (Freddy Yao 79), Arlen Birch, Dwight McNeil, Dan Agyei, Tommy Wood. Subs not used: Tony Aghayere, Robbie Leitch.
