Clarets face leaders in youth league
Having seen the away game against Rochdale postponed for a second time this week, the youth team are scheduled to play Blackpool away tomorrow in the Youth Alliance League.
Blackpool are currently top of the league with 34 points from their 16 games and have suffered only two defeats all season. Their lead at the top is three points with Walsall and Port Vale the closest contenders while Burnley sit fourth with 28 points and we’ve a game in hand on both Blackpool and Walsall and three games in hand on Port Vale.
One of the two defeats Blackpool suffered was at Gawthorpe in November when goals from Olatunde Bayode (pictured), Tommy Wood and Nashé Chakwana gave us a 3-0 win so we will be looking at completing a double as well as hoping to move closer to the top of the league.
That win against Blackpool was a third successive success and kicked off the current run that has seen us win six and draw two of the last eight games.
We lost this fixture 3-1 last season with our goal coming from Khius Metz and we have to go back to October 2012 to find our last away win against them in this league. It wasn’t a close game either on that occasion; Jason Gilchrist score a hat trick and there were also goals from Cameron Howieson, Lewis Nuttall and an own goal in a 6-1 win.
Tomorrow’s game will not be played at Blackpool’s Squires Gate training ground, the venue is Myerscough College and the kick off time is 11 a.m.Share this page :
