1617 burnley rj pingling 00 500x500Last week, Burnley’s 3-0 win against Morecambe took us above Port Vale, beaten by leaders Blackpool, in the Youth Alliance League and into third place. Tomorrow we face Vale at home after having drawn against them in the away game.

That game was played on Saturday 17th December and was our last game of the calendar year. it ended 1-1 with RJ Pingling (pictured) scoring our goal. At the time we were two places and two points behind Vale but Saturday’s draw saw us lead them on goal difference and with two games in hand, such has been our recent form. That has now changed to three games in hand with Vale having lost against Rochdale in midweek, a result which has left Rochdale just one point behind us both and having played a game less than us.

A win tomorrow could help put pressure on the top two. We are currently two points behind Walsall from the same number of games but trail leaders Blackpool by nine points although they have played three games more.

We’ll be looking to repeat last season’s result at home against Port Vale. We played them two weeks before Christmas and won 4-3, not knowing at the time that we would not win another home game all season.

It was 4-3 that day. The first goal was an own goal with Tommy Wood, Josh Dolling and Olatunde Bayode then scoring. Bayode also scored in the away game against them; we lost that one 3-1 in the last game of the season.

Kick off at Gawthorpe tomorrow is 11 a.m.
