1718 burnley turf moor 04 1000x500Earlier this evening the draw was made for the third round of the League Cup and we revealed earlier that the Clarets have been drawn away against League One club Burton Albion.

It will be our first ever visit to the Pirelli Stadium although we have met Burton on two previous occasions, once in the FA Cup and once in the League Cup, both of them at Turf Moor.

The first meeting was in the 4th round of the FA Cup in 2011 and it was Eddie Howe’s first home game as Burnley manager. We won it 3-1 with Chris Eagles scoring twice and Martin Paterson adding a third right at the end after Calvin Zola had pulled one back for the Brewers.

Zola was also on the mark again eight months later in the 1st round of the League Cup. This one ended 3-3 with the Clarets winning 6-3 after extra time. Jay Rodriguez netted four that night, the first two from the penalty spot, with Charlie Austin and Ross Wallace both scoring.

This latest tie will be played in week commencing 24th September.
