The under-23s have played two games during the last week, in the cup against West Brom a week ago today and at Ipswich in a league game last Monday.

1718 burnley will harris 00 500x500The win against West Brom has taken us through to the Round of 16 in the Premier League Cup where we’ve been paired with Leicester at home, a game for which the date and venue are still to be confirmed, but last Monday we missed the chance to go second in the table when we suffered a 2-0 defeat at Ipswich.

We currently sit behind Birmingham, who also drew at Coventry, on goal difference, but Leeds won comfortably at Watford to stretch their lead at the top of the table to eight points although they have played a game more.

Looking for a place in the top two to reach the play-offs, we also be aware of the pack of clubs behind us with all but Hull still harbouring hopes of climbing into those lofty positions but we do have an opportunity in three days time to move up into second place. Birmingham have no game this week so a result against Watford will see us move ahead of them.

Ipswich’s win against us has taken them seven points clear at the top of the south group with Crystal Palace currently occupying second place although only three points clear of Coventry. Palace were expected to win last week but were beaten at home by Bolton when they could have gone six points clear of third place.

There are two games today which include the much improved Barnsley hosting Ipswich, and there are five games next Monday, including ours and Leeds at home to Charlton.

The player pictured this week is Will Harris who this week was rewarded with a third year scholarship and he will move into the under-23s next season.

The League Tables will be updated as results are confirmed and can be found with our Fixtures and Results within U23/U18 Stats on the top menu.
