Clarets suffer first youth defeat of the season
Burnley’s youth team fell to a 1-0 defeat yesterday afternoon at Doncaster in the Youth Alliance Cup and with Scunthorpe going down by the same score at home against Accrington, it has left it with everything to play for in the last round of group games.
All four teams in Group 4 have now played two with all of them winning one and losing one which means the whole group will be decided when the final games are played in October.
Scunthorpe lead the group with a goal difference of plus 1, Accrington and Burnley both have a goal difference of 0 with Doncaster bottom of the group on minus 1.
After two wins and two draws in the league, and that win against Accrington in the cup, this was Burnley’s first defeat of the season in what was a disappointing performance. A spokesman for the team said they never really got going.
The youths are back in league action next week with an away game against Accrington. When we played them in the cup two weeks ago the game was played at Nelson. As yet there is no confirmed venue for the game.
