Clarets suffer under-23 defeat at Watford
Despite going in front just 12 minutes into the game, Burnley have suffered a third successive loss on the road in the Professional Development League having gone down to a 4-2 defeat against Watford.
It was Khius Metz (pictured) who gave us the lead when he turned the ball home as he followed up a Harry Flowers shot after a Burnley corner.
The lead lasted until just past the half hour when the home side equalised with a superb effort from Mauro Zárate from just outside the box and then disaster struck the young Clarets with two Watford goals in the last two minutes of the first half. The first of them came from a Jerome Sinclair penalty and less than a minute later Michael Folivi made it 3-1.
Burnley did well in the second half and pushed hard to get back into the game. Scott Wilson came close with one effort before Flowers headed home a corner with just over a quarter of an hour to go. It was game one at 3-2 but Watford ended our hopes when Dion Pereira netted a fourth two minutes into stoppage time to give them a 4-2 win.
