Burnley’s development squad won through to the final of the Final Third Development League Cup (Central League) last season with a semi-final victory over Middlesbrough with the final against Stoke City held over to this season.

The Clarets played in a group with Bradford City, Fleetwood and Morecambe. We drew 2-2 against Fleetwood but then beat Bradford City 4-1 and Morecambe 1-0 to reach the semi-final. There was a long delay before we could play that with the group in the North East not played until much later in the season.

We finally did play it against Middlesbrough at the end of April when George Green and Ntumba Massanka scored the goals that gave us a 2-0 win at their Rockliffe Park training ground.

Stoke, who had won through to the final some time earlier, and Burnley were unable to fit in the final, with Stoke the home side, and agreed to delay it until early this season.

The game has now been confirmed. It will be played on Thursday 18th August, kicking off at 7 p.m. at Harrison Park, the home of Leek Town.
