The U18 Professional Development League gets underway for real tomorrow when teams come up against opponents in the same league with Burnley facing what is now a home match against Sheffield Wednesday.

1718 burnley danny cadamarteri 00 500x500It should have been away from home but the fixtures against the Owls have been reversed which sees the team directly below us in the league visit Gawthorpe.

We got into the game in second place in the league with 13 points from six games while Wednesday, who are one of two unbeaten sides in the north group, are two points behind with a game in hand having won three and drawn two of their previous games.

It’s no surprise to see Wednesday up near the top. Last season they won the northern group and went on to win the knock out competition played between the top two of each group, beating Millwall and Hull.

Danny Cadamarteri (pictured) was coaching their under-18 team then but tomorrow he will be on the opposite side having moved to Turf Moor having dodged what has proved to be a bullet by turning down an opportunity at Huddersfield.

He’ll be without four of his players who are preparing with the under-23 team for Monday’s game against Hull. Those four are Oliver Younger, Scott Wilson, Dwight McNeil and Leighton Egan.

Tomorrow we’ll select from: Adam Bruce, Marcel Wusiewicz, Dan Moss, James Clarke, Will Harris, Bobby Thomas, Richard Taylor, Kwasinkosi Mpofu, Dylon Meredith, Ethan Kershaw, Kian Yari, Terry Mupariwa, Tristan Jumeau, Akim Samms, Jordan Cropper, Michael Fowler.
