Draw takes under-23s to the top
Our under-23s have gone top of the Professional Development League this afternoon with a 1-1 draw against Crewe which has taken us above Leeds United on goal difference.
Jordan Cropper (pictured) gave us a 13th minute lead when his ball into the box took a deflection off a defender before looping into the far corner, and we came very close to doubling our lead ten minutes before the break when Josh Benson hit the bar with a terrific effort from a free kick.
But Crewe came back in the second half. They were level on 62 minutes when Oliver Finney hammered home a Travis Johnson cross off the underside of the bar and three minutes later they should have been in front after winning a penalty only for Anders Lindegaard to make a good save.
The teams were;
Crewe: David Richards, Travis Johnson, Kevin O’Connor, Joshua Lundstram, George Ray, Like Offord, Oliver Finney, Tom Lowery, Owen Dale, Connor Heath, Joseph Lynch. Subs: Matthew Fenton, Sam Booth, Daniel Lokko, Rio Adebisi, Jack Goodrich.
