Gareth Southgate has named his first England squad since being given the job on a permanent basis and once again both Tom Heaton and Michael Keane have been named.

England face Germany at Borussia Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park in a friendly next Wednesday 22nd March and then return home to face Lithuania in a World Cup qualifier at Wembley on the following Sunday.

Heaton, who now has two full international caps, and Keane, who will be hoping to win his first cap, have both been named in a 26 man squad although there is no place for Andre Gray who had been tipped in some quarters to get his first call up. Southgate has, instead, opted to recall Sunderland’s Jermain Defoe.
