Right back Billy Grogan

Right back Billy Grogan

Having beaten Fleetwood 3-1 last week, the youth team are set for their first home game of the season tomorrow morning when we come up against Tranmere in the Youth Alliance League.

Changes within the academy have brought with them a new wave of optimism that at least we are now moving in the right direction. It will take time, considerable time to repair the damage of the last five years but it starts here and hopefully moves on to see the club obtain category 2 status with new professional staff.

Last week’s win against Fleetwood came courtesy of two goals from Olatunde Bayode and one from Dwight McNeil and it was good to see three of our under-16s involved with Markell Foulds starting and both Akim Samms and Ethan Kershaw on the bench.

The full team last week was: Connor King, Billy Grogan, Scott Wilson, Markell Foulds, Kwasinkosi Mpofu, Olatunde Bayode, Mark Howarth, Tyler Shrimpton, Dwight McNeil, RJ Pingling, Tommy Wood. Subs: Marcel Wusiewicz, Akim Samms, Ethan Kershaw, Tristan Jumeau, Leighton Egan.

Kick off tomorrow at Gawthorpe is 11 a.m.
