gawthorpe 2Facing the top of the league this morning, our under-18s earned themselves a point at Gawthorpe from a creditable 2-2 draw with both goals coming from captain Michael Fowler.

Fowler gave the young Clarets the lead but Wednesday replied with a penalty given against Richard Taylor and then the visitors went in front before half time. But it was a penalty seven minutes from time that earned us the point. It was given when Taylor was kicked in the head as he went in for a diving header. There was a ten minute delay while Taylor received treatment after which Fowler scored the spot kick with Taylor stretchered off and taken to hospital.

It’s the first point for new coach Tony Philliskirk who will now look for his first win in charge when he takes the team to one of his old clubs Bolton Wanderers next Saturday.
