1516 burnley george green 900George Green, who joined the Clarets from Ossett Albion in January 2016, has today signed for Chester for a small fee having ended last season with Nuneaton Borough.

George’s mental health issues have been well documented, problems that saw him leave Everton after he’d been tipped to be a top player having represented England at various levels up to under-18 which he has hopefully come through after addressing his problems both publicly and privately.

He’s certainly the kind of player new joint managers Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley have spoken about. He’s played for them before during a loan at Salford City when he was with the Clarets and Johnson said today: “We know George and George knows us and in terms of talent he is off the scale. He has that mercurial talent that is very rare and he is one of those players that can change a game in a second with something that others just can’t do. He has so much talent and can sprinkle that little bit of magic. On his day he is unplayable.”

Johnson added: “George’s problem have been well documented but he has spoken out on those and sought help and I think that has really helped put him on the right path again. For us to get him at 22 when things are on the right track and he is coming out the other side is a massive coup for us. He knows us and quite a few of the lads and it is an environment where he can really thrive.”

Hopefully he has found the right club at the right time and we’d like to wish him the very best at Chester.
