Goalkeeper at the Hart of Euro win
Burnley beat İstanbul Başakşehir last week to move into the play-off round in the Europa League. We kept two clean sheets in the tie, winning it 1-0 in aggregate and in the second leg it was goalkeeper Joe Hart who took the honours in both the man of the match vote and the player ratings.
Hart, making his home debut following his move from Manchester City, won 51% of the vote with central defender Kevin Long, playing for the first time this season, claiming second place with a 16% share. The next two places went to midfielders and both with 8%, Jack Cork, who came on as a substitute, just beating Ashley Westwood into third place.
Hart was the winner again in the player ratings. His rating of 8.53 out of 10 was ahead of Cork who scored exactly 8. Behind the front two in the ratings were the central defenders. Kevin Long was third with 7.93 and a rating of 7.43 out of 10 gave Ben Gibson fourth place on his debut.
It’s a maximum ten points towards the Up the Clarets Player of the Year for Hart with Cork and Long both winning five points while there was a point each for Gibson and Westwood.
That’s changed the top of the player of the year table again with James Tarkowski, rested for this game, dropping from first to third. Hart is the new leader, just a point ahead of Cork.
