Since last week’s update, another 11 games have been played in the U18 Professional Development League and those games saw no fewer than 53 goal scored, just a couple short of five goals per game with Nottingham Forest leading the way.

1718 burnley jordan cropper 00 500x500Forest played in one of two matches last Tuesday, beating Colchester 6-0 while QPR were winning 4-1 at Bolton. Those two big winners met each other last Saturday and it was Forest certainly on top as they added five more goals to their collection.

Whilst they were doing that, both Crewe, against Coventry, and Leeds, against Millwall, hit six and there were also four goals for both us and Crystal Palace in Saturday victories.

Our win has taken us up to second place. This time last week, just before the first of Forest’s wins, Sheffield Wednesday were top, but they had no game over the weekend which has allowed us to go two points clear of them and only Forest, in both leagues, now have more points than we have. They are also the leading goalscorers, their goal fest in the last week has now taken their total number of goals scored to 24 and that’s eight more than next highest Sheffield Wednesday.

Forest are also the only unbeaten team in the north group with Crystal Palace in the south also able to boast a zero in the defeats column. At the other end of the table, Sheffield United beat Watford which means all the north group teams have now won at least one game although in the south all of Cardiff, Ipswich and Coventry are looking for their first win of the season with Coventry still searching for their first point.

This week brings an end to the early season north v south games. They will resume in March but from a week on Saturday until the last four games of the season, it will be games between teams in the same league. Our last game prior to that this Saturday is at QPR.

The League Tables are updated as results come in and can be found alongside our Fixtures and Results in U23/U18 Stats on the top menu.
