Brad Jackson was released by Burnley at the end of last season having spent the first half of the season with Southport, but he signed for Ashton United last week and has scored in each of his first two games against Southport and Darlington.

They went 1-0 up in just eight minutes through Matthew Chadwick and Jackson himself doubled that lead six minutes later with a header.

However, things changed in the second half when Southport came back to share the spoils in a 2-2 draw; former Claret Jason Gilchrist scored the equaliser.

Incredibly it was a case of deja vu two nights ago when he made his home debut against Darlington. Again Chadwick gave Ashton the lead and again Jackson scored to make it 2-0, this time picking up a long through ball and hitting a left foot shot into the top corner.

It had taken them 23 minutes this time to go 2-0 up but once again it went wrong in the second half with Darlington coming back to score twice.

But it’s been a good start for Brad Jackson with two goals in two games for his new club.
