Grant joins Stoke in loan deal
Former Burnley goalkeeper Lee Grant has today left Derby County and signed for Stoke City on loan until 3rd January 2017.
Grant started his career with Derby, making his debut for them against Burnley, before moving on to Sheffield Wednesday. It was from Wednesday that Burnley signed him in the summer of 2010 and he became first choice goalkeeper ahead of Brian Jensen for most of his time at Turf Moor.
He was offered a new deal by the Clarets but opted to turn it down and return to Derby in the summer of 2013 but it has not proved to be the best of moves. While Burnley have twice won promotion to the Premier League with Tom Heaton, his replacement, in goal, Derby have failed to get back to the top league and Grant has lost his place in the side to Scott Carson.
He won’t be first choice at Stoke either but will act as cover for the other goalkeepers, notably Jack Butland for the next four months.Share this page :
