Hart is top choice in Cardiff win
Goalkeeper Joe Hart made two outstanding saves in last Sunday’s 2-1 at Cardiff, getting down low to his left to deny Kenneth Zohore just before half time and tipping over a goal bound effort in the second half. Those saves, coupled with his overall performance, have won him the man of the match vote and the player ratings again.
He polled 53% of the man of the match vote, ahead of Jόhann Berg Guðmundsson who received 35% of the vote. Sam Vokes, with 3% came third with Kevin Long, Ben Mee and Ashley Westwood all sharing fourth place with 2% of the vote.
The player ratings brought a similar result. Hart was again the winner with a rating of 7.91 out of 10, followed once more by Guðmundsson who scored 7.18. Vokes won another third place with a rating of 6.42 with Long on his own this time in fourth place with a rating of 6.36 out of 10.
It has brought Hart another ten points towards the Up the Clarets Player of the Year with Guðmundsson winning six points. Vokes won four points and there were two points for Long and one each for Mee and Westwood.
It’s taken Hart 14 points clear at the top of the player of the year table with Guðmundsson now moving into fifth place. And with this being the final game in September, we can now reveal that the player of the month is also Hart who won 30 points during the month, more than double the 14 that took Guðmundsson into second place. He follows Jack Cork who was the August player of the month.
