Hart rated our best player on return to the Etihad
Joe Hart received a superb reception from the home supporters last Saturday when he made his first ever appearance against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, and despite having to pick the ball out of the net he was again voted our best player.
It was his fourth man of the match award this season; that’s two more than next best Jack Cork and James Tarkowski. At City, he won 42% of the vote with Tarkowski second having secured a 21% share. Third and fourth places went to the two players who came back into the side. Steven Defour was third with 11% of the vote while Jeff Hendrick took fourth place with 6%.
Hart was also top of the player ratings although he had to share first place with Tarkowski; both had ratings of seven out of ten. Hendrick was third with a rating of 6.43 while all of Defour, Matt Lowton and Ben Mee came in joint fourth, all having ratings of 6.36 out of 10.
Hart, again, has won ten points towards the Up the Clarets Player of the year with Tarkowski winning eight points. Both Defour and Hendrick secured three points and there was a point apiece for both Lowton and Mee.
In terms of the player of the year table, this result has taken the top two even further away. Hart leads the way with 65 points, eight more than Tarkowski. Cork, in third place, is now 24 points behind second place Tarkowski.
The next vote will be underway this Sunday after the Chelsea game. The Manchester City result and the current player of the year table are below.
