With Chris Wood ruled out with injury, Jeff Hendrick returned to the starting line up last Saturday at the Emirates and his performance was one of the few positives for the Clarets who were beaten 5-0 by Arsenal.

He won both the man of the match vote and the player ratings, both of them convincingly too. He polled 45% of the vote, ahead of Jack Cork who was second with 14%. Jόhann Berg Guðmundsson took third place with an 8% share with Kevin Long just beating Ashley Westwood to fourth place; he had 7% of the vote.

In the player ratings, Hendrick was the only play to score above the mark of six out of ten for an average performance. He led the way with a score of 6.21 out of 10 and that was followed by Guðmundsson whose rating was 5.32. Barnes was third with a rating of 5.16 while Matt Lowton, the only other player to even score five, was fourth with a rating of 5.05 out of 10.

That result has given Hendrick ten points towards the Up the Clarets Player of the Year with Guðmundsson picking up five points. There were also three points for Cork, two for Barnes and one for Long and Lowton.

This  result has ensured the Up the Clarets Player of the Year, succeeding 2016/17 winner Ben Mee is Guðmundsson whose points total of 109 cannot now be passed.

There is just one man of the match vote to go this season, that will be underway on Sunday after the final game of the season against Bournemouth.
