The name Andrew Driver wouldn’t go away a few years ago. The Hearts winger was linked with a move to Turf Moor in three separate summers. Owen Coyle tried to sign him in both 2008 and 2009 with more bids also made in 2010.

I don’t think I’ve ever written so many articles to confirm the signing of a player who never actually signed for us, let alone played for us. Incredibly, there was even a daft link with him a couple of years ago when he left Houston Dynamo, getting out before the real trouble started there.

He’s since played for Aberdeen and now De Graafschap in the Netherlands, but don’t worry, there hasn’t been another link, but there has with Nottingham Forest’s Henri Lansbury.

The former Arsenal midfielder was on the radar in the summer transfer window two years ago. It looked likely that he would sign but ultimately it didn’t happen; neither did it in the January window during the 2014/15 season.

A year ago we made our move again. If it looked likely in 2014 then it looked almost certain in 2015 and the move looked to be just a few hours, or even minutes, away last August in the week after the Championship season had kicked off. It seemed nothing could get in the way of it, but it did, in the shape of Forest owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi. He signed a new contract, stayed at Forest and made an impact in our game against them at the City Ground when he was sent off by referee Stuart Attwell.

It was always going to be the case that someone would put two and two together again this summer and link his name with Burnley. It’s happened already, but now the Nottingham Post have joined in with a very interesting story.

Today they have reported that they face a fresh fight to hold on to him because of a release clause in his contract which allows him to move to a Premier League club for about £2.5 million. But wait – that clause is only applicable for a week in June, although it doesn’t say which week in June.

Lansbury has a year remaining on his current contract but Al-Hasawi has said that he is ready to offer him a good deal to try and keep him. Lansbury is reported to be happy to discuss it.

Is it really going to be another Lansbury summer?
