1617 burnley johann berg gudmundsson 01 100c500Jόhann Berg Guðmundsson came off with an injury in Iceland’s game against Peru this week but Sean Dyche has confirmed that he’s trained today and is expected to be fit for Saturday’s game against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns.

Dyche confirmed that goalkeeper and club captain Tom Heaton is now really close to a return but said that he wants to be in that position where he has to make a choice. “There is a good competitive element to our goalkeepers as a department,” he said. “Tom is really close to getting back involved now. He’s going really well and feeling really good.”

Heaton has had to watch as Nick Pope has taken his place in the Burnley team and gone on to win a call up for England. Dyche said: “As an Englishman I’m proud our players are getting called up for England. I was really pleased with James Tarkowski. I thought he was very good, nice and calm, did the basics well. There’s more to come from him.”

He added: “I thought Corky was a bit unlucky not to be in and around it. I think it’s a good think and a powerful thing that players at Burnley are being looked at and picked.”
