1718 burnley ian jones 00 500x500Following on from the appointment this week of Danny Cadamarteri as the new youth team coach, the club have today confirmed that Ian Jones and Jack Higgins have both joined the club in roles vacated by Chris Sulley and Pat McKiernan.

Sulley came in during last season as head of academy coaching but didn’t stay long. The role was vacant for a while but, before last season ended, Ian Jones (pictured) moved over from Brockhall where he’d been working for the Blackburn Rovers academy as under-18 coach.

Burnley have also confirmed today that Jack Higgins has joined the club to replace Pat McKiernan as the head of education within the academy. Jack has been around football and last season was playing in the National League for York City and then Southport where he ended the season.

Up the Clarets would like to wish both Ian and Jack the very best at Turf Moor but, on a personal note, I’d like to pay my thanks to Pat who has left the club after around nine years at Turf Moor.

Having retired his position as deputy headmaster at St. Theodore’s catholic school, he was brought in to the club by then director of youth Martin Dobson. In the years since he’s become a very respected, and well liked, member of staff.

I’ve got to know Pat well over that time. He’s become a friend and has been a great help to me over recent years, particularly when the relationship between the website and the academy head had become non-existent.

I’ll miss him and I know I won’t be the only one saying that. Jack has big boots to fill.
