Joseph Barton returns
Burnley have this afternoon confirmed that they have agreed terms to re-sign former Rangers midfielder Joseph (Joey) Barton on a short term deal until the end of the season.
I’ve used Joseph after reading his book and learning that he prefers it and because Joey was given to him by former Blackburn player Derek Fazackerley.
There really isn’t much to add. Barton, as we all know, was terrific for us last season and we’d have all liked him to stay with us. However, he opted for a two year contract in Scotland with Rangers which didn’t quite work out as he or they would have liked.
I’m delighted to see him back at Burnley. He was an absolute credit last season and it will be great to see him wearing a claret and blue shirt again.
He will become a Burnley player just as soon as the transfer window opens but the deal will then be subject to international clearance.
