Legzdins scores dramatic late equaliser
Today’s Premier League Cup game against Crystal Palace, moved from Bamber Bridge to Gawthorpe, has ended in a 2-2 draw with the Clarets coming from two goals behind at the interval.
After the switch of venue and the delay in announcing a kick off time, the game eventually got underway a few minutes after 1 o’clock and it was Palace who grabbed the initiative with a tenth minute goal and then a second to give them a 2-0 half time lead.
Burnley pulled one back midway through the second half, inevitably from Ali Koiki who hit home a Josh Benson corner, but it looked as though time was running out until goalkeeper Adam Legzdins went up to head home a dramatic 95th minute equaliser and so another draw for the team.
The Burnley team was: Adam Legzdins, Ryan Cooney, Anthony Glennon, Scott Wilson, Ali Koiki, Tunde Bayode, Christian N’Guessan (Adam Phillips 62), Josh Benson, Ne-Jai Tucker, Rob Harker (Lewis Richardson 45), Joe McGlynn (Joel Mumbongo 68). Subs not used: George McMahon, Jordan Cropper.
