Loan man Grogan settling in well at Nelson
Youth team right-back Billy Grogan is the latest Claret to go out on loan, joining Nelson on Saturday 19th November and going straight into their team that day against Hanley Town.
At the time, Alex Norwood, a former member of the youth department at Burnley, who replaced ex-Claret Phil Eastwood recently as manager, said: “Billy’s an excellent young footballer who we are extremely pleased to have here at Nelson.
“We saw last season how well Nathan Webb did on loan from Accrington Stanley and we have a great set up here to allow local young talent to flourish. Billy has all the attributes to be a success here during his time with us.”
He did make his debut against Hanley and retained his place in the team last Friday when Nelson beat Atherton Collieries 3-0 at home in the Macron Cup. Nelson reported that he impressed throughout on his home debut, where he lined up alongside former Burnley youth player Charlie Holt, showing great maturity and ability on the ball.
Grogan, a locally born player, is now in his second season as a scholar at Turf Moor having made his youth team debut as a schoolboy in the FA Youth Cup win against AFC Wimbledon in December 2014, replacing Hamam El-Fitouri during the second half of our 2-1 win.Share this page :
