Long to join Bolton for rest of season
Having come back from Fleetwood last week after spending the first half of the season with them on loan, Chris Long is all set to return to League One today in a loan deal with Bolton Wanderers.
Long made 23 league and cup appearances for the Cod Army and scored four times, although he only netted once after mid-September when an injury and then a suspension interrupted his time at Highbury.
He’s now about to trade one promotion chase for another. Bolton are currently above Fleetwood on goal difference with the pair in 3rd and 4th places in the league although Bolton do have two games in hand.
Bolton boss Phil Parkinson has been keen to add Long to his squad to add pace up front that has been missing since the departure of Sammy Ameobi and he sees Long as a key addition as they push for an immediate return to the Championship.
Long is in his second season at Burnley and was used, mainly as a substitute, in the first half of last season. He appeared on ten occasions in the Championship for us with the last of those his only start at Cardiff in November 2015. He’s since featured just once, coming on as a late substitute in the FA Cup win at Middlesbrough, replacing Sam Vokes in the closing stages.
The 21-year-old Long will have one year remaining on his contract when he returns to Turf Moor at the end of the season.Share this page :
