Earlier this season, then youth team coach Danny Cadamarteri said that we’d be getting some of the younger players, particularly the second year scholars, out on loan to experience men’s football and that is certainly something that is paying off just now.

1819 burnley dylon meredith 00 500x500Michael Fowler is the player who has probably grabbed the headlines. He went to Padiham initially but was then recalled and loaned out to Radcliffe Borough. He made his debut for Jon Macken’s team two and a half weeks ago in a 1-1 draw against Mossley but has made a name for himself there with a hat trick in his next game, last Saturday, against Prescot Cables which Radcliffe went on to win 3-2.

Scott Wilson has probably gone under the radar somewhat but the central defender is fast approaching twenty appearances for Stalybridge Celtic while Richard Taylor, another defender, has now had his loan at Colne extended.

There is a similar extension for Will Harris at Colne while, as we reported last week, Ethan Kershaw has returned to Burnley following a loan with Barnoldswick Town.

And now, a loan with a difference. Dylon Meredith (pictured) has been out of the Burnley team this season, presumably through injury, but, fit again, he’s signed a work experience loan with Morecambe and will play for them in the Youth Alliance League and the Central League. He could make his debut this afternoon when Morecambe face Macclesfield at the Globe Arena in the Central League.
