Re: Mcneil - have we seen enough?

For me McNeil was a much better player when he first came into the side. He's an obvious talent but at times I feel he is turning into a new George Boyd. Probably alarm some people, me saying this but he's not developed how i'd have hoped. We have to play to his undoubted strengths and in areas of ...

Re: Mcneil - have we seen enough?

Bizarre criticism of McNeil, albeit he has struggled at times this season. The truth of it is that because McNeil burst onto the stage and immediately saved our season and became arguably our best player, some people's expectations burst similarly and there's no appreciation that a slight 21 year o...

There is zero attacking threat from him. His first instinct is to go backwards and not lose the ball. Its either coaching or confidence either way its painful to watch.

Vokes was good. But Wood is far superior in every way. That’s no disrespect to Vokes, I liked him. Apart from those headers he missed against Olympiakos. Must have been at least 3 sitters.

I think in the final analysis, Vokes just came up a little short in the Premier League. Not quick enough.

Wood has been an upgrade in each dimension I think - pace, heading, touch and finishing. Did like Vokes though.

the problem is we then don't have enough quality of delivery from wide areas, and McNeil isn't really in the game at that point.

The answer really is better players with more attacking threats overall.

If you look at ratings, Lowton gets 5 from a lot of people on this board. It was a good win, but it cannot varnish over certain truths and one is that it is now common knowledge that Lowton is a weak link. Howe alluded to it in the commentary last night, and he is probably a good judge.
