Re: Muric wins Brighton's Goal of the Month
Yep he did, but the point is, if it had been a Brighton player that played the ball towards goal, then Muric did exactly what he did, it would be credited to the Brighton player, not a Muric OG. I think it’s probably right that the last player to touch the ball gets credited with the own goal, but ...

Re: Onana's assault
No, you haven't understood my argument. I agree that if someone attempts to kick, head, or punch the ball and gets there a fraction late, then it is dangerous. The laws say that if it is done recklessly and with excessive force then it should be a red card. I put what Onana did in the same category...

It’s a bit of an odd one, but if a shot is going in and an attacker gets a touch it still goes to the player who touched it last.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Mon Apr 29, 2024 3:07 pmIt has to be a Berge own goal for me
If a shot is on target and a keeper gets a touch it's never an own goal.

Re: Onana's assault
But if you jump into a tackle feet off the ground and out of control then you can get the red card regardless of if you make contact with the opposition player. If this interpretation is applied to a keeper punching a ball then every time a keeper attempts to punch a ball in close proximity to othe...

Re: Onana's assault
Unless you want to ban keepers from punching the ball you’ve got to accept that things like that will happen and aren’t sendings off. By its very nature punching the ball away is always likely to be at head height in proximity to an attacking player and is therefore, just by being a legal part of t...

Re: Onana's assault
The red card is for excessive force while endangering an opponent. Such as diving in two-footed, the sort of offence that is a foul whether you get the ball or not. Onana went for the ball in the bog standard way that goalkeepers do, so unless the ref thinks that he was aiming for the man, he gets ...

A mistake to leave Murillo on the field whilst the sub was preparing. He looks to be carrying a groin injury which makes changing direction v difficult, and Haaland literally turned him inside out.

It's no benefit to us had onana been sent off luton or forest won't play United again this season. It's obviously subject to the referees interpretation otherwise he would have had an early bath. The fact that it wasn't interpreted as being intentionally reckless was a factor for him remaining. Strangely, I think we will be safe before the Forest match. We will get 6 points and the others 0. I agree with the first word...

A keeper punching a player when (however incompetently) trying to punch the ball is a bit different to a punch anywhere else on the pitch. There’s definitely an argument that a keeper going to punch the ball and landing one flat in a player’s face is endangering the safety of an opponent though, wh...

I'd have liked to have seen Casermiro and Garnacho both booked for BLATANT dives, but aside from that - thought the ref had a good game. I don’t get why he would drop Taylor? I would expect him to deal with Antony fairly comfortably. Forest did have a point in their statement about refs reffing teams who are contextual rivals with those they support. For example, if I was to be a biased ref, I’d be more likely to show that bias for or against a team that directly impacted the success of Burnley than Blackburn Rovers.
