If they say ‘Burnley’ then they may as well say ‘Mansfield’ or ‘Newport’ as far as the average punter is concerned.
If they say ‘Vincent Kompany’s Burnley’ then they have the attention of far more people.

I don’t get the comparisons with Waddle. He couldn’t be arsed. He was never really interested. He signed some appalling players, one of whom I was surprised was actually a footballer. Just give the guy some time to work with what he has, bring in what he believes is required and see if the signs are...

We most certainly will not be ready for the new season. The seeming lack of urgency in getting someone in is astounding.

It’s bonkers. I discussed an album by Kraftwerk on Facebook a few weeks ago, and one guy, honestly, got the hump about it and I quote, ‘after what the Nazis did in the Second World War? Seriously? Weren't the signings supposed to be Mark Patterson, Sean Dyche and Mixu Paatelainen? I recall Patterson being photographed in the shirt with a scarf, then somebody pulled the plug.

Whoever it is, it needs to be ASAP. They will need time to address who is here, who they may want to persuade to stay and ultimately bring their own players in too. My only concern is the shorter than usual close season. A new manager would surely like as much of a pre-season as possible? I think an announcement after Sunday could be worthwhile, that is if there is someone waiting in the wings.
