I think it would have been on the area shown as 211 on the 1890 map of Burnley. Next to Calder Vale Works and the Mill Pond.

It’s not that many years ago that the FA cup was THE competition fans wanted to watch. Crowds were huge in all the rounds, admission prices were hiked up by the clubs and the clubs playing, fielded strong sides. You have Guardiola complaining about only 32,000 turning up to watch City take on Fulham...

There’s a number of films on YouTube of the final.
Tickets I believe were hard to come by in Burnley but fans still travelled down in their thousands to follow Cliff Brittons Team. There’s a clip of it in the Bob Lord Film I ‘borrowed’.

Can’t see how it’s fake. A member of the public brings in an old Cabinet, their staff fix it up and give it back. That’s the show. So what do they use -actors as members of the public? Swap the busted up cabinet for a new one? I Don’t get the fake label. Nice show easy on the eyes.

P S. Ilkley is on your route - slight detour but superb views from up on the tops and the Cow and Calf rocks. There’s also a Betty’s tea shop on the Main Street and a good Wetherspoons. (Think I’ll write a guide book😀)

There’s the Devonshire Arms at Bolton Abbey, or nearer Burnley, several places in Skipton, Tempest Arms in Elslack, Craven Heifer at Kelbrook, Tubbs in Colne, and lots of places in Burnley to eat before the match. Plumbe Street Miners will be busy from tea time 20p to get in but is cheap for a drink...

For any change to happen you need to raise a complaint. Send Northern Rail a letter stating the details and how you were personally affected. State what, when, where. Etc, and provide photographic proof if you have it. Demand a refund for the disruption caused. Next send Burnleys MP a similar letter...

Watched Rogue One the other night after it was on the telly. The cgi Peter Cushing was very convincing but the voice was wrong. Not a bad story though and looking forward to the final Star Wars film over Christmas( will it really be the end????)

When it rains A huge pool of rainwater forms just as you drive down onto the motorway at Gannow top heading toward Accrington. In the dark even with headlights on you cannot see it until it’s too late. The pool is huge, swamping the kerbside lane making some drivers swerve out or plough through it. ...
