I don't believe Deane scored in the original match, but after Heath gave us an early lead in the replay Deane tore us apart and got a hat trick, sadly. Both matches were very fiesty with great atmosphere.

Northampton was exactly the same and was like that the day we beat them on our way to the 4th division title under Mullen (Marriot's final game) The cricket field was on one side. They've since moved of course.

The problem is that the "pundits" tend to give mixed messages imo. In one breath they'll say a chap should be told he's in for a series and will be given X number of games to find his feet and prove himself (or not), but then on the other hand they say such a body clearly isn't up to it or...

Positives: We were very close to an expensively assembled, nailed on top 6 side away from home.
Negatives: Crossing, 2 soft goals, lack of calmness when good opportunities were opening up.

That's just it. He scored a great goal last week and that's the level of opposition against whom he should be judged. I disagree. He does LOADS of tidying up which isn't pretty, but needs doing, granted, but when we have decent situations going forward he is painfully slow in thought and deed and other teams know this.

You might catch a few with that one. I AM being serious. Very much a nearly performance and we battled really, really well against an Arsenal side which has cost shed loads, but hasn't yet properly gelled.
