Re: Referee confirmed for Watford game

These days I'm totally disinterested in who the ref is. I only take note of who's manning the VAR, because the small decisions (errors) won't matter. The really important decisions will be made via the tele and action replay. Sign of the times, sadly!

Re: Opening Day Thrashings

I've not seen those goals from Brighton in absolutely ages. As others have said, you simply cannot believe what you're seeing when watching Davis "defending" the second. It's utterly laughable.
PS I saw Stan T in town today and he looked really well and never seems to look any older!!!

Re: VAR changes

Genuine question: Last season Chris Wood scored a last minute "winner" away at Watford and was flagged offside so the goal didn't stand. It was clear straight away on the replay(s) that the liner got it wrong and it should have stood. Would VAR have awarded a goal??

Re: VAR changes

If Wood's goal had have been given we would be seeing a lot more of that incredible cross from McNeil, it would be rightly famous. The ball flew onto his forehead like a heat seeking missile. It left Wood with the simple job of nodding his head, it wasn't just the goal that any striker could score,...

Where's bloody VAR?? Was that not handball by Abraham leading to the goal. Admittedly he didn't mean to, but these days, if it leads to a goal it's not allowed!! (And how daft did he look actually avoiding scoring when he was inches from the line? Weird, but then again I think he's overrated rubbish!)

Re: VAR changes

VAR doesn’t check corners/goal kicks. It would be a nightmare if all those were checked too. Yes, tbf CT I'm sure he (and I) both knew that. I think the point being made was if the intention is to wipe out erroneously awarded goals, then that COULD definitely be interpreted as one, especially if so...

Re: VAR changes

Our first goal was still given, despite the ball coming off Barnes for the corner. That's why it's a joke. Everyone round me said exactly the same. How far should VAR go back to declare a goal "illegal"?? Because everyone in the stadium except the ref and the liner knew that wasn't a corn...

The problem is that one referee (on the field) is interpreting an incident one way and then a second referee (off the field) sees it and interprets it differently.
