Re: Blackburn v Burnley 1978 fighting on the fair ground fighting on the streets

I actually don't THINK that was Tottenham's only foray into the second division around that time. Rather like Chelsea back then, they were very much also rans among the big boys, who got fairly large crowds based on past glories, but were generally a soft touch, especially on the road. They flirted ...

Grimsby were a decent outfit at one time and we got a few drubbings there both on and off the field after we fell from grace. It IS possible that we may have been too cautious and are gambling with our PL future and I suppose we'll know the answer to that in the next 3 months, but as the Swansea story shows, there isn't always a correlation between spending big and staying up and Swansea aren't the only club to bet the ran...

I definitely remember the home game we lost 3-2 after being 3-0 down and there were some Rovers fans who thought standing on the Bee Hole was a good idea when it most definitely wasn't. My feeling is that they were doing pretty well at the time and we weren't and they did bring a lot as a 26,000 cro...

The only person suggesting that was Jack Holden I think.....I was at that game and TC's goal was an absolute beauty. One of my big regrets is that there doesn't seem to be any video footage of it at all. I was there too and totally agree. He scored down at the other end (Blackburn End) so it wasn't...

Dummigan was (apparently) a great prospect when he was with us and should/would have been playing at a much higher level than Oldham's bench and Dundalk, but I suspect his several bad injuries have blunted his potential and that seems very unfortunate and a great shame.

Maidstone was always a weird one because they actually played in Dartford! Went about 3 or 4 times and seemed to be a happy hunting ground for us I recall.
I once went to Barnet for a night match and we scored a last gasp equaliser (Heath?). The ground was awful, but a good day out.
