Poor that he's been I'd leave Wood in the team for now and pick Vydra to play alongside him. It makes the classic big guy/small quick guy partnership and to me is worth a punt because Barnes and Wood just aren't pulling up any trees right now and I can't see Vydra and Barnes being a success.

I think that even with the new regime, we may be somewhat underwhelmed with our January activity and the reason for this will be that yes, some very good, bargain priced players may be available and may now be within our price range (Sigurdsson POSSIBLY being an example) but signing them would blow ...

Is there much difference between a loan at say 5% or an investor wanting a return on his investment which would be at least 5%? I'm guessing that there is, in so much as one might be prepared to defer his return and put payment(s) off, whereas the other will have it when it's been stipulated...or e...

There is another financial tragedy unfolding at Derby at this very moment - owned by a billionaire who has used every trick in the book to dodge FFP (having written about 3/4 of it) and consistently failing to win promotion - he has had enough and seems to be refusing to put more money in - has agr...

Paul, I have bitten my tongue long enough now with your exciting times. I think that you have now completely overstepped the mark with that post. Football, as Burnley fans perceive it, is a local brew. It is WE. It's The Turf. It's the Longside. It's us against the big six or who ever is above us. ...

I'm not Wood's biggest fan or advocate right now, but I'd actually prefer him up front for us rather than Cavani. He looked absolute garbage on last night's showing.

If we do need 37, and I think it will be less, then we are on course because 37 is less than a point a game overall and we are running at a point a game now despite that very difficult start with half of the team missing. Miracle proportions from where we are now. Are you actually serious? On a thr...

We've to get to about? 37 points by May and even for SD that's going to be almost miracle proportions from where we are now. Yes, we're playing pretty well, especially defensively, but the front 2 look extremely flat and that's an issue in itself because we really don't get many goals from elsewhere...

It's an excellent, if implicitly very sad initiative and like everyone else I was amazed at how long the list was this year and also at some of the names I recognised. It's a tough one imo, because Vydra definitely gives us something different and when he's on we play differently and chances seem to happen, (look at tonight last 15 minutes) BUT he misses more than his fair share and that to me is what SD has an issue with. TBF I think SD is wrong about him, becaus...

I honestly agree with those who feel Wood offers the square root of bugger all if he's not sticking the ball in the net. His first touch, control and link up play are reminiscent of The Prairie circa 1987!

Yep, both teams reverted to type second half. We were simply SO us and they were their usual slick, attack minded, front foot selves, but we were brilliant at being us and were so, so unfortunate to be undone by a deflected goal. Having said that we did have our chances and Tarks and Vydra were both...

We sure are playing more than ok, but set pieces will always be our best threat and therefore the delivery has definitely got to improve second half. Both Brady and Westwood have been guilty and we have to make those opportunities count.

I actually think the issue with Benson is the type of player he is. The railway line between Burnley and Padiham power station was still there until around 2000. Trains were still used in the early 90s.
I see. I assume the line from Burnley as far as the power station (but no further) remained open for coal deliveries.
