Knew him a long time ago through a friend then he emigrated to South Africa. Incredibly talented batsman who in one home game at Bacup Rd. he dominated Patrick Paterson( in his pomp) to such an extent that he was taken out of the bowling attack by the opposition skipper. RIP Peter.

Agree. Neither was Clemence or Jennings, two other great keepers. Best at that time was Paul Cooper at Ipswich and probably the best I've seen for us was Marlon Beresford.

I'd forgotten just how bad Pearce's mistake was that led to the goal that finished us off. Wasn't long afterwards that Nicky Walker joined us and a good job too.

Once WIlson is back (or we sign a striker), Wood will not be first choice striker. So you are writing Wood off after one game despite what you stated earlier. Forgive me, I was always under the impression that if a player left the club there would be one ready to replace him. There isn't as far as I can see but, as you say, we've got some money, slowly depreciating as I write.
