Maybe he scores a lot of goals because he consistently runs the risk of being caught offside.

The case for VAR is that, as goals in football are so important, it's worth taking a little bit of time to check that they are valid.

All the pre-invested pundits saying VAR will speed up with us but If that's what's needed every time it never will. Some football bureaucrat still needs to drag some lines around a frame until satisfied. It took less time than the Arsenal players delayed the game pretending to be injured on Saturday.

With goals being so important in a game of football when one happens it is important to take a minute (about 20% as long as it takes Arsenal players to go from being tackled to restarting play) to confirm that the goal was in fact a good goal.
