Re: Jimmy Mac Remembered
The greatest and my schoolboy hero. Was lucky to have had a season ticket 60-61 onwards so saw my idol play many many times. Wish you were coming back Jimmy Mac.

Re: Gerry Marsden RIP
I was born in 1952. I was so fortunate to have grown up through the sixties and for the Clarets to be one of the best sides in the country. Match day was me and dad dashing down to Rawtenstall town centre to the bus station at Queens Square to board the many double decker bus 'specials' that were pu...

Re: Australia v England Cricket Semi Final
Rather like this bit of editorial by sports writer Tom Fordyce:
'On Monday Australia's players had taken their shoes and socks off and walked the outfield here. The idea was to feel the positive energy coming out of the earth. On Thursday England took their pants down for them too.'

Re: David Bowie
For those whose musical experiences metamorphosised in the 70's through the unadulterated freedom and exposure of raw musical talent it was an unworthy privilege to have witnessed the arrival of such a unique and musicaly creative individual and life would never be quite the same again. Thank you Mr...

Re: Scudamore - I hope we told them to do one
Crazy, obscene, disgusting. One of the main reason why I am falling out with football rapidly. If he was on a salary + bonus of 2.5 million a year was he not already ridiculously remunerated ??? He was paid to do a job. We all get paid to do a job. I worked with Richard in 1986 when he was a sales m...

Re: Palais Bénédictine
Yes. What an amazing place. Fecamps if I remember. The surprise is that the Palais Benedictine is situated in a built up area and not really what you might envisage. The place oozes with the smell of all the spices that they use in the brewing of this wonderful liqueur. Well worth a visit. If you ne...

I cried as a 10 year old in February 1963 and I'm crying now!! I idolised the man and his football genius. Thank you Jimmy for all the pleasure you gave me and thousands of others over the years. Sadly, this time you won't be coming back but you were simply..... the BEST!!!

Originally called themselves Hotlegs and released Neanderthal Man which strangely became a hit in 1970 in various countries as the track was intentionally a play around with drum layering. Changed their name to 10cc in 1972.

Agree with TVC regarding Puerto Pollensa. Not been for years but what a great area and the old town of Pollensa is a delight. Beautiful villas, magnificent bay with shallow water. Formentor just a boat ride away or a drive over the mountain. Drive over the mountains to Fornalutx, the prettiest villa...

Selling your Spanish holiday home.
Has anyone in recent times sold their Spanish 'place in the sun' and moved the proceeds back to the UK? If so, how did you go about getting your Euro money out of Spain and into your British sterling bank account? Any suggestions on the best way of dealing with this in order to achieve the best exch...

Re: Well done British Govt & CAA!
Ayamonte: Not true unfortunately. I felt the same as you but when I checked they were flying to Gatwick one day and then Manchester the next. It was the luck of the draw. I drew the short straw but was very relaxed about the issue and TBH no one complained too much. Thanks Captain. Good point. Just...

Re: Well done British Govt & CAA!
We are due to fly from Faro on the 12th......just a couple of days before the repatriation exercise comes to an end so we have to be thankful for that and concur that the CAA appear to be dealing with that matter as well as one could have hoped. I am getting a flavour of the difficulties with this h...

Re: Scudamore wants more money for the bigger clubs
I worked with Richard Scudamore back in the 80's when he was nothing more than a man manager/ supervisor as well as being a practical joker. At that time you would never have guessed he was equipped or able to achieve much more than that although he was a likeable guy. He certainly did not appear to...

Was there speculation that Andone could possibly be sold if Deporvito were able to prise Perez away from Arsenal? Rumour today suggests that Perez could be on his way back to Deportivo in a 14m deal. He seems very unhappy at Arsenal. That may make things more interesting. Watch this space.

First album I bought was Traffic's Mr Fantasy. Followed by the album 'Traffic' in 69 and then 'John Barleycorn Must Die' in 70. I was a big Stevie Winwood admirer and loved the Spencer Davis Group. Traffic encompassed the psychedelic phase in the late 60's which was infectious and no more so than th...

Lost my brother Tony Nuttall (Nutz) in June 2013 to lung cancer (never smoked in his life) at the age of 53. Still find it hard that he is no longer amongst us. He was a true BFC supporter and along with my eldest daughter we travelled the country watching the Clarets. It was Lincoln away in a cup m...

If you can manage it check this place out. We did a 3 week trip through France from Calais many years ago and eventually stayed for two weeks in the Dordoigne.
